Few people know that the little rodent can accustom themselves to human presence fairly easily and that they can run close to humans without any fear whatsoever. Therefore, if you find yourself in the situation of having to wait for hours in a place you know it’s filled with prairie dogs then try to walk around for some time, getting them to slowly getting used to your presence. The key aspect here is patience. If you totally lack this attribute then maybe it would be best to move on, being more careful not to repeat the mistake of scaring them off in your next location. If you wait long enough you will be surprised to see their heads rising out of their holes one by one.
